If you haven’t already, The Alchemist is a must read for everyone. About a young shepard in search of his Personal Legend, The Alchemist inspires one to chase after their dreams and fulfill their life’s destiny. I just re-read it and am feeling so amazing and inspired. I couldn’t re-write the entire book in quotes, but here are a few of my favorites:
It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.
At a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.
There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it is because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on Earth.
The Soul of the World is nourished by people’s happiness. And also by unhappiness, envy, and jealousy. To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only real obligation. All things are one.
When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
If you start out by promising what you don’t even have yet, you’ll lose your desire to work toward getting it.
When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.
If I can learn to understand this language without words, I can learn to understand the world.
We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it’s our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.
When you want something with all of your heart, that’s when you are closest to the Soul of the World. It’s always a positive force.
Everything on Earth is being continuously transformed, because the Earth is alive… and it has a soul. We are a part of that soul, so we rarely recognize that it is working for us.
If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man… life is the moment we are living right now.
People become fascinated with pictures and words, and wind up forgetting the Language of the World.
In his pursuit of the dream, he was being constantly subjected to tests of his persistence and courage. So he could not be hasty, nor impatient. If he pushed forward impulsively, he would fail to see the signs and omens left by God along his path.
Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity.
Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of it’s dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.
All you have to do is contemplate a single grain of sand, and you will see in it all the marvels of creation.
If a person is living out his Personal Legend, he knows everything he needs to know. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve; the fear of failure.

Rebelution is absolutely the most brilliant reggae band to ever live. If you have ever heard their music than you know exactly what I am talking about. Not only that, but I have seen them 4 times in the last year, and they are constantly taking their live act to new levels. The stage covered in plants, green smoke all around, lights & lasers etc, not to mention the crisp sound of each instrument. They are truly incredible live and provide fierce support for their already amazing music. I was fortunate enough to see them this past Friday, April 1, at the Wiltern here in Los Angeles. They played a few new songs, but this track stuck out to me especially. Rebelution-Sky is the Limit. This is the best version I could find of the song online, enjoy!

There is something to say about the originality of an artist. To be inspired is a monumental feeling. To see something happen or happening in front of you, and then feel a burst of excitement within yourself to make something of your own happen. Inspiration is a beautiful thing. But, true as it can be, the originality of the artist is what will continue to drive them to the next level. There must be that deep appreciation for creation within. Driving one to question old ideas and conjure new ones. And then set out to answer these questions in their own beautiful, original way. You can only get so far with a pencil from the hand of Picasso. Rather, let others ideas and creations manifest within. Dig deep within and ask yourself, when you are alone, what is it that I am here to do, THAT I AM HERE TO DO? And then ask yourself, how am I going to make this happen? The originality will flow throw your heart and out your mouth and fingertips like no creation you have ever seen before. Because it is original, it is YOU. Do not ask, how can I do what they did to get where they are? Ask, what can I do to get where I am meant to be? And then with every living fiber of your being, do it.

companionship. what it’s always been about.
maybe more, but never less.
we may argue semantics for the rest of time with only blinking moments comprising a true connection; but when it’s made, all around will cease to matter as you fall into the embrace of a greater power. there is a lock inside us all, hidden beneath a variable set of layers composed of fear, resentment and distrust but what it conceals is the answer to eternal life. no two locks are the same and yet no lock bears a greater secret than another- a radiant beauty that fills all the empty space, a warmth that makes you forget the cold, a hand to hold while stepping into the dark. we called it love, and in labeling it we have, subconsciously, created walls to bind it’s purpose and reach. to love is to know, understand and share but a fraction of another souls joy and pain; a few steps in someone else’ shoes gives an idea of where they’ve been, where they’re going and how they got there. judgment is replaced with empathy and compassion as you begin to pick the lock and understand the beauty it harbors. once unlocked, an overwhelming wave takes the mind into a state of pure euphoria where logic is skewed by vulnerability in a free fall towards the unexpected- an adrenaline rush to counter that which we feel when we’re put face to face with the possibility of death. To face love is to live life and to touch God, for we are the manifestation of that greater power and when we open ourselves up to each other we let a divine light illuminate into the deepest and darkest parts of our soul. Our troubles are shared and in turn eliminated for there is nothing we can’t overcome together; even death. I believe that when we leave this plane of existence, all those we truly came to love during the span of our life will be waiting in an endless dream we’ll call paradise. The love you gain for another etches them into your memory with the utmost detail, leaving it to the subconscious to wield a world beyond our imagination where the course of action throughout your life has made up the foundation to an eternal world fabricated by your reflections.
So if I’ve come to love you then together we will be forever, and if you’ve come to love me, I will be waiting for you on the other side.
